Canadian Thanksgiving

We celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving last Sunday. It was fun to eat yummy food and hang out with Adam, Elisabeth, and baby Charlotte. Hooray for family!

Pumpkin Patch and Night before Christmas

I took Jonathan to this pumpkin patch last week. They had a train to rode around the outside of the patch, kittens, a hay bale maze, and a million pumpkins. This is just 1/4 of the patch. It was freezing cold, but we had lots of fun.

The Lees from Vancouver bought us this "Night before Christmas" book that reads itself. The boys fight over it. We have to take turns and learn to share. It has been funny watching them "read" it over and over again. I also wanted to note that David has been trying very hard to say words. He says, "go," "Dad," "Mama," and "hi." He is very proud when he speaks and laughs with absolute delight.

Piano

David's latest interest is the piano. He loves to get up on the bench and just bang away. He also loves to try and climb on to the keys and from there to the top of the piano, so I have to watch carefully. He actually climbs on top of everything. If I turn my back for a second he will be on the kitchen table, dancing. He has fallen off of chairs a few times and lately he fell off of the table. He seems to always bite his lip too, but he never learns. As a result, less things get done around the house because I can't wander too far away, darling David.

Flat Stanley

My niece Estella was doing a school project called "Flat Stanley," and she sent Jonathan "Stanley." He was very excited to bring Stanley around Idaho Falls.

Sharing

When David gets hungry he raids the pantry. It is a new thing for us since Jonathan only eats if he is greatly encouraged or motivated. David loves Ritz crackers and he will carry one around for a long time before he sits down and decides to eat it. Normally, all food must stay in the kitchen, but it was so cute to watch Jonathan and David share this cracker, that I allowed it into the living room.

Face Plant

Jonathan did a face plant on the drive way a couple weeks ago. This is at least three days after the accident. It makes it look not too bad, but at first, he looked like he got in a serious fight. Poor kid. He was pretty brave through the whole thing. The first time he looked in the mirror, he was totally mesmerized by the scrapes. I think he enjoyed watching it heal day after day.

Trains

Jonathan put this train track together all by himself. He really likes me to play with him, so it is kind of rare for him to put it together all alone. My job, on this particular morning, was to keep David from destroying it.

Reading

The boys love to be read to. Library day is a very special day at our house. We go once a week, usually on Thursday or Friday. There is an amazing donut shop just behind the library, so we go there sometimes too. Yummy!

Cooking Buddies

We made sopapillas a couple of Sundays ago. They weren't as awesome as I remember they were when my dad made them growing up, but we still enjoyed eating them with honey and powdered sugar. The boys always want to help me make anything, and now that the weather is getting cold, and we are inside more, I often have two chairs pushed up to the counter with all of the whisks, wooden spoons, measuring cups and spoons, and bowls. It is a huge mess, but we have lots of fun.

Daddy!

The boys just tackle Daddy as soon as he walks in the door. They almost fight over who gets to wrestle him first, but they are happy enough to see him, that they usually don't fight. David wants to get in on the action here. He actually sat on Edmund's head. Love it.

Pre-School

I've started doing a mini rotating preschool with my friend across the street. This is our first day. We ate graham crackers and made animal puppets.

Sleepy Head

David is giving Jonathan a kiss. He loves kissing Mama and Dad and Jonathan too.
Jonathan actually sleeps in this position. If we sneak in his room while he is asleep, he will be asleep like this. His feet hanging off the bed and everything. I have no idea how that is comfortable at all. He also refuses to sleep under his blankets or sheets. He just says, "No, I have my soft blanket." The blanket is small enough that it only covers about half of him. Darling Jonathan. He is so funny and so particular.

David and Bunny

David loves his bunny. If it is possible, I think David is more attached to his bunny than Jonathan is to his teddy bear. David is tickling the bunny in the face with the giant flower. He also likes to take his sippy cup and give the bunny a drink. Today he read his "Kitten: Touch and Feel" book to the bunny. He even rubbed the bunny's face against the soft kitty fur and the "rough pink tongue." He is is just magically adorable and sweet.
He is coming into Jonathan's room to wake him up from his nap. It is his daily ritual. I can't leave him alone for a minute because he will race to Jonathan's room and wake him up. They are crazy about each other.

FHE

For family home evening a few weeks ago Edmund taught a lesson on the Tower of Babel. Then, we built towers out of marshmallows and tooth picks. It was lots of fun! Jonathan is wearing the birthday shirt his Great Grammy made for his Uncle Judd over 30 years ago. That shirt has been amazing and still looks great!
