David's Birthday!

 David turned 2! He said he wanted Lucky Charms for breakfast, and he was very excited about it. He also couldn't wait to get at his presents. I was very surprised by the extent of Jonathan's jealousy, and I'm glad it was a Sunday. David loved wearing the balloon shirt. He was so excited that the next day he woke up at 5:30 and ran into our room and said, "Birthday!" He was very understanding when we told him that he could have another one next year.

Jonathan has been talking about having a car cake for his birthday since Edmund's birthday. David naturally wanted one too. David doesn't really like cake, so I made a cookie with cream cheese frosting and covered it in fruit and cars. He didn't really like that either (except the cars), but I did!

36 Weeks Pregnant

We enjoyed a beautiful morning at the farmer's market a couple weeks ago. I'm starting to get very big. I think I might have about three shirts that fit, but the end is in sight! We had a picnic at the park and brought the boys trikes. They loved cruising around! We actually saw a boy fall off the curved ladder and we think he probably broke his arm. Parks are scary places.

Neighbors

I had my friend's kids over for a couple of hours today. We had a lot of fun running through the sprinklers and eating Popsicles. David just wanted to sit by me and watch the action, but Netti's little one got right in the water and stuck his face in it.

 David got in on the action by running across the yard once. He came back and told me he was wet. Yeah right.

 I don't know what Jonathan was saying to Jagger, but he thought it was funny.

Poor baby was cold. I took his wet onesie off and wrapped him in a towel after I took his picture.

Dieter

About three days after we left Vancouver at the beginning of May Edmund's dad, Dieter, made a turn for the worse and ended up going to the hospital. It was a tense couple of weeks, and Edmund was very much on edge. His dad passed away on May 19 from complications related to Parkinson's. It is nice to know that Judi was there with him and Angela had walked in just moments before. Edmund and I made another trip up to Canada. Although it was a sad reason to return so soon, It was wonderful to be with family again. I'm so glad that we had planned that initial trip when we did. I think it was so nice to see Dieter so close to the end before it was too late.

Angela's Birthday

Poor Angela had to have her birthday during this crazy and sad time. A friend of Judi's brought her a Pavlova cake. It was probably one of the best things I have ever had in my life. I also had my jammies on. It was close to my bed time, I guess. I go to bed way earlier than any Leemhuis.

Vancouver, again

While we were in Vancouver again, we did go out and do a few things. It was busy getting the funeral ready, but we took a walk to a park or the beach everyday. We went to Princess Park twice. (Jonathan calls it the fairy park.) It has an amazing trail that crosses the creek several times. The boys loved throwing rocks and sticks, and it was hard to keep David away from the edge.

 David tried to run away from the oncoming wave and fell into the ocean. He was not happy.

 He also banged his head earlier that day, as usual.

 This is a metal tree. I actually thought it was real. It obviously does not look real in the picture, but if you just walk past it, it can trick you.

 Love this teeter-totter. Edmund and I did it, and I couldn't stop laughing.
