Little Boy

Jonathan has grown up so much in the past month. I can't believe he will be turning one in a little over a week! He has really started to look like a little boy.

Grandma-Chelle and Bubba

My parents came to visit us this past week. It was wonderful to have them stay with us. Jonny seemed to remember Grandma-Chelle from her previous visit a month ago, and he got used to Bubba really fast. It is always fun to take long walks with Mom, and Edmund really enjoys fishing with Dad.

Wall-less Cage

Jonny hates touching the grass. He doesn't mind sitting on a blanket or even just sitting on the grass as long as no part of his skin is touching it. If there is something in the grass that he wants, he crawls to the edge of the blanket and stares at it. He reaches out and touches the grass but immediately retreats. A couple of weeks ago we were at a friends house, and there was a soda can in the grass just off the blanket. Jonathan reached out and tried to get it but couldn't, so he laid on his stomach and stretched his arm out to reach the can, and he got it, but he wouldn't touch the grass with his hands or face, so he just laid on his belly arching his back trying to get away from the grass while clutching the soda can.

Into Everything

Every time I turn around Jonathan is into something else. I can't leave him alone for even one second. He is very curious about everything. He loves exploring all the rooms in the house. Opening cupboards, trying to unload the dishwasher, emptying drawers, crawling up the stairs, trying to get the plugs out of the light sockets, and pulling books off the shelf. Last week while I was doing laundry, he kept trying to crawl into the laundry room. I really don't want him in there because I keep the cleaning supplies down there. I put a laundry basket full of clothes in front of the door, but he just crawled right over it. Eventually, I allowed him to come in there with me, but I made sure he didn't move from right in front of the dryer. He stood up using the open dryer door and loved playing with the wet clothes. While I was loading the washer, he actually climbed into the dryer. He was so proud of himself. I didn't have the camera on me, but I let him stand up in front of the dryer later, so I could get a picture.

Crawling!

Jonny is crawling at last! He is getting quite good. He loves crawling into and out of my lap and reading stories. Yesterday, I left him in his room and went to go do something in the kitchen. About a minute later I saw him crawl in to the bathroom and then in to the computer room. I followed him in there and he just started giggling when he saw me.

Canada

We went to Canada for Memorial Day. It was wonderful to spend time with Edmund's family. We were lucky that the weather was beautiful almost every day. Jonny loved all the new faces that he didn't remember, and he especially loved the cats. Every time Soleil would slink around he would start shreiking, kicking his legs, and flailing his arms in excitement. Occasionally, he attempted to imitate her noises. He officially learned to crawl while we were there. He was getting to be an excellent army man, but the cats were motivation enough to get up on all fours. On Sunday we went to the Sea Park in West Vancouver and saw some some people crabbing. I think that was the first time I had ever seen a crab alive. They looked like big shelled spiders when they moved. It was facinating and creepy to watch them. I feel so lucky that Edmund grew up in such a beautiful area of the world. It is so fun to go back and visit.
