New Milestones

Caleb has started laughing. It is hilarious. I never know what is going to make him laugh, so it is fun to play with him and see what he likes. He is also rocking up on his side and getting close to rolling over. Go Caleb! Edmund and I decided that the CDC needs to put new milestones up on their developmental milestones page. Like, 2 weeks: Exploding poo. 3 months: grabbing your plate off the table and sending it into your lap. 2 years: Sticking his hand in his diaper to experience poop. 4 years: Pretending there are ghosts in the basement and scaring your brother to death.

David says the most adorable things. I forget most of them, but on Sunday I made some mint herbal tea for Jonathan. Edmund had a glass too, and when he picked it up to drink it, David cried dramatically, "No, Daddy, don't drink it! It's gross!" He also loves to say things that Jonathan says which sometimes drives Jonathan crazy. Jonathan always wants me to entertain him or take them on some errand, so he says "I want to go somewhere," pretty frequently. This morning it was 1 degree outside, and we were definitely spending the day inside. David said, "Mom, I want to go somewhere! I want to go to violin lesson!"

Cooking

I decided to make a pumpkin roll. I didn't have a jelly roll pan, but I did have this little guy.
 Yummy cream cheese frosting.
 Ready to roll.

 Nailed it!

My donuts did better. I ran out of powdered sugar, so they didn't get frosting. They did get a small dusting of the sugar that was left. Yummy!

Popcorn to keep the boys happy.

Science Experiment

I wanted to do a science experiment with the boys, so I read up baking soda and vinegar. We added a little baking soda to water and poured in a bunch of vinegar; then, we quickly put a balloon on top of the water bottle and watched it inflate. We did it four or five times. David was a little dangerous pouring in the vinegar, but he did great with Jonathan's help. It was fun, but not as much fun as making lemonade or . . .

Caleb

Caleb is our little angel. I cherish his smiles and laughs and lately his yelling. He has definitely discovered his voice and loves testing it out.

Leaves

We have one terribly small deciduous tree in our yard that probably dropped ten leaves. I wanted the boys to have a chance to enjoy the leaves. One day, David and I had some extra time before picking up Jonathan from preschool. There was a park across the street from the library, so we decided to go there. There were piles and piles of leaves. David was in heaven! I wanted Jonathan to have a chance to enjoy it too, so a friend and I went back a couple days later. All the leaves were gone. It was very disappointing.

Party

I saw a pumpkin pinata at Wal-Mart and felt inspired to throw a Halloween party. We had lots of fun decorating cookies, playing pin the bow-tie on the skeleton, freeze dancing, and smacking the pinata. The pinata was very tough. We had better luck hitting it on the floor. When it finally broke, I just ripped it open and held it up high for the shower of candy to fall. I didn't put up any decorations and did things as simple as I could, and I was overwhelmed by how many complements I got on the party. It sure made me feel amazing!

Halloween

We carved pumpkins on Tuesday. This was the first time David has been awake to carve pumpkins. he did not want to reach his hand in for the seeds. Jonathan was very excited and wanted to help with everything. Edmund printed out pictures of pumpkins and the boys chose which ones they wanted. David wanted a cat, of course, and Jonathan wanted something scary, of course.

We went trick or treating with our friends who also dressed their kids up as star wars characters. They are Luke and Leah. Our two boy were Darth Vader and R2D2. Caleb was in these very cute pumpkin jammies. He took a nap while we walked around. They were adorable. It makes me love Halloween.
