After Party Play

One of Jonathan's friends got him Mega Block and another got him Megatron. Jonathan built a castle (with a little help from Dad) for Megatron.

As long as the balloons still had helium, the boys loved trying to reach them to bring them down from the ceiling.

PARTY!

I did my first birthday party! It was so fun planning and preparing and executing the party. I wish I could have parties all the time. (I supposed I could, but it was a lot of work too!) Jonathan, David, Edmund, and I made an awesome pinata. I love making pinatas. What a lot of fun! I painted a scuba dude and cut out his head for some fun pictures. We did a cake walk, and because it was raining, we fished for rubber duckies in the bathtub. We also played the freeze dance game and Stop and Go. I made fruit kabobs, but I bought cupcakes. (Cake making and I are not friends. I'm trying to learn though.) Five is a wonderful, magical age. The kids can follow directions, but still love party games and structure. We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood with so many awesome, cute, fun five year olds!

Pirates and Bug Collecting

On a particularly difficult morning when David was having an especially hard time, I decided to go get the mail with Caleb and leave the two boys in the house to have their temper tantrums. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful walk to the mail box. Inside, there was a letter to the boys from Grandma Leemhuis. She had enclosed a little birthday money. I went inside and they eagerly opened the letters and decided they wanted to go to Walmart, right then! I said, "yes, please get me out of this house, even if I have to go to Walmart." The boys were so happy. Jonathan picked  a very cute bug collecting kit, and David, of course, picked out a bunch of new hot wheels. The rest of the day was peaceful and fun. We raced cars and collected bugs. What a turn around!

We went to the Pirate exhibit at the Museum of Idaho with my parents. It was so fun! I think it was my favorite so far. Although, I must admit, I loved the CSI insect one and the Egypt one and the Carousels. The upstairs was like a boat! I learned a lot, and the boys loved it too!

Happy 4th!

We had an exhausting day going to the 4th of July fair on the Green Belt and BBQing at our house and then staying up late late for fireworks. I love this holiday! Caleb really liked Chris, watermelon never tasted better.

I can't remember how David got his black eye.  The neighbor kids joined us for a while.
