The Long Drive

I had to take David down to Primary Children's in Salt Lake to have a recurring anal fissure looked at. It was a long drive for a quick visit that didn't really answer the real problem. Of course, we still don't know what the real problem is. It clears up for a month, then it comes back. Our only option right now is a colonoscopy, but the blood we see is on the stool not in the stool. Very difficult. Here we are at a gas station diner on the way home. I just love David's silly face.

First Day of Kindegarten!

I can't believe this boy is in kindergarten! He does not like that it is everyday, but he does like it overall. He is so well behaved, and he has made lots of friends!

End of Summer

We are starting to potty train!

This boy loves haircuts. He gets out their hair cutting stuff and cries until we pretend to cut his hair. He is, however, actually getting a haircut here.

This boy is learning to read!

Hard to resist a baby in bed.

Licking the mixing spoon, and eating an apple. I just love watching him eat. It is still exciting for him to try new things.

We let the boys pick out little tiny animals at the farmer's market. David chose this little bunny, of course!

This monkey was having a stare down with Caleb.

When Jonathan got up there, the monkey lunged at him, and scared Jonathan!

Caleb-Hulk while shopping for back-packs.

We went through a dressing animals phase. We actually went to DI and got some newborn clothes for the animals.

The train tracks have been a true toy.

Last Bike Ride

This was my favorite bike ride this summer. The sun is just barely rising. The wheat was harvested, but not the corn. I loved riding through the corn fields. Just walls of corn. One morning, I heard a great crashing through the corn field, and I thought a bear was going to jump out and eat me. I was really scared, but a deer ran out of the corn, saw me, and darted back in as fast as he could go.

Grandma-Chelle and Bubba Visit!

Grandma-Chelle and Bubba came to visit a week or so before we left for England. We all love their visits. We had fun fishing, celebrating birthdays, watching Jonathan and David compete in a triathlon, go to the Zoo, Funland, and the Museum!

Fishing! The boys got fishing poles for their birthday, so it was fun to have Bubba the fisherman take them with Edmund!

Feeding the ducks at the zoo.

It isn't a trip to the zoo without a picture on the tiger.

New baby zebra. There was a baby camel this year and a baby snow leopard. The lions had a cub, but he died.

Funland. There are five rides a Funland. I believe they are all from the 60s. Caleb liked the train for a little. Then, he cried because it was too loud!

Airplanes are always a win.

Jonathan threw his lot in with this spider thing. He made it twice around before he had had enough, but what a tough guy! No one wanted to go with him, so he did it alone!

Kids Tri-Harder

Watching these boys run in with huge grins on their faces, and knowing they feel so proud of themselves, makes me so happy!  Jonathan successfully swam across the pool a week before the triathlon, but on the day of, he chickened out. I ended up carrying David across while Jonathan held onto my arm for dear life. David kept kicking his feet and saying, "I'm swimming, I'm swimming!"

Kissing their medals.

Caleb really wanted to do it too, He wouldn't take the life vest off, and refused to let anyone else wear it. Luckily, David didn't want it because he knew I'd carry him.

Later, we went to the museum. The American Revolution people were there doing demonstrations. What a lucky day!

The boys got to make a copy of The Declaration of Independence.

Bubba reading Bubba the Cowboy. We heard that story at least twice a day, probably more.

Finally using the letters Grandma Leemhuis gave them for their birthday!
