Civil Defense Caves Disaster

Edmund decided it would be fun to take Chris, Ethan and Aiden out to the Civil Defense Caves. I wasn't too keen on it, but Edmund was excited about it, so they went ahead and went. I guess they should have gotten a bad feeling when they had to drive around a road block, but they just kept going. Edmund turned off towards the caves and was cruising along on top of the snow when he finally started thinking it was a bad idea. He slowed down to turn around, and the car just sunk into the snow. I know it doesn't look like it is stuck, but it was high centered and even after trying to dig it out the tires just spun. Thank heavens for cell phones because they weren't within walking distance of anything.

Edmund's Auntie Shirley and Uncle Steve live in Sugar City, and they knew some people with a big truck that thought they could help them. A couple hours later, Edmund called me and said that the truck had gotten stuck. Edmund and Chris were able to help push the truck out of the mud and then hopped in the back to give it some more weight. The truck people took Chris and Ethan and Aiden back to our house and dropped Edmund off at the Crapo Farm where they had a tractor that might be able to help get the car out. Unfortunately, when they found out the road was closed, they didn't want to run the risk of getting a big ticket, so they drove Edmund back home. (I would have done the same.) The poor man came home without a car and to a furious wife. However, I recovered and forgave him for having a big slip in judgement.

We called a tow company that had a back hoe and he took Edmund out the next morning. The back hoe ended up getting stuck too and having to dig itself out. Eventually they made it to the Jeep. They tied the Jeep to the back hoe and it pulled it out. We were lucky that no one got hurt and no one got tickets, and we definitely learned our lesson.
