Hard Work

I went a little crazy this time with nesting. After we had gotten back from our two trips to Canada, I announced to Edmund that we needed a new car (NOW!) and garage shelves, and we needed to finish the basement all before baby 3 comes. Edmund was the best husband ever and said, "Okay, let's do it!" This past month we have done a lot of boring errands to Home Depot, Lowes, and carpet stores. It was exciting. We hired a guy in the ward to do our drywall, taping, and texture. He did a fabulous job, and he was fast! Next, Edmund and I spent a week priming and painting. Then the carpet guys came. While the drywall guy was here Edmund built shelves. Then, after we painted the bedrooms we painted the shelves and put them up. It was a lot of work and the basement bedrooms aren't quite done, but they are good enough! We are ready for you baby.

Mommy's Birthday

I had the best birthday ever! I was totally spoiled by Edmund. We got to have a date while my neighbor watched the boys and go out for icecream. Edmund helped the boys make me adorable cards. Jonathan said, "We need to you you another present. I want it to be a toy. Happy Birthday." Edmund helped David pick out a picture to put on the card and David wanted a "Hot Dog!" He loves hot dogs. Magically, my sister Julia sent up a package too. There was an awesome fishing toy/game for Jonathan, and both boys loved it! Thank you my wonderful family!(The brownies were still hot and the bottoms of the candles actually melted.)

Father's Day

We spent Father's Day painting with water in the backyard, building Lincoln Log towers, and playing with playdough. It was too long ago to remember, but I think it was a good day!

Bath

We got some truly amazing bubble bath, and now the boys with bathe together. Hooray. Jonathan picked it out. He wanted orange scented bubbles like Grandma Leemhuis, but they didn't have them. Then, he wanted Avengers, but he didn't like the way it smelled. He did not want Princess bubble bath, but he did like the way it smelled, so I told him it didn't matter if it was girly if he liked the way it smelled. That made him happy. He does not like things to be girly. It's a new phase.

Jonathan's Birthday!

Jonathan seemed to have a great birthday today! He was excited to wake up and put on the birthday shirt that my brothers have all worn. He also wanted Lucky Charms for breakfast. He had a long list of things he wanted to do for his birthday. He had gymnastics at 9, and he loves that. He was so excited to go that I didn't have to remind him or David ten times to please climb in their seats and stop playing in the car. I ordered a cake at a local bakery that sells amazing donuts, so we picked that up this morning too. He wanted to go to a park we drive by all the time but have never been to. That was fun but very hot. We ate lunch at Famous Dave's. I'm not sure what put it into his head that he wanted to go there, but he seemed to enjoy it despite hiding under the table because he said it was cold. Both boys were totally exhausted, and we had a relaxing afternoon outside and playing with Jonathan's new trains. Originally, our neighbor friends were going to come over and play in the sprinklers, but David had a fever of 100 this morning and then is peaked at 103 after his nap. Yikes. He is fine though. A little Tylenol gives him an appetite and makes him thirsty.  Then, after dinner, we got to play with something that Edmund just couldn't resist buying the boys: A Hot Wheel track. It was fun!

David blew out Jonathan's candles before we even started singing. Jonathan was pretty mad, but he did a good job controlling his temper. Good Job, Jonathan!

Watermelon!

We love watermelon with marshmallows and Sprite.

David's Birthday!

David turned 2! He said he wanted Lucky Charms for breakfast, and he was very excited about it. He also couldn't wait to get at his presents. I was very surprised by the extent of Jonathan's jealousy, and I'm glad it was a Sunday. David loved wearing the balloon shirt. He was so excited that the next day he woke up at 5:30 and ran into our room and said, "Birthday!" He was very understanding when we told him that he could have another one next year.

Jonathan has been talking about having a car cake for his birthday since Edmund's birthday. David naturally wanted one too. David doesn't really like cake, so I made a cookie with cream cheese frosting and covered it in fruit and cars. He didn't really like that either (except the cars), but I did!
